Ryder Cup 2027 guide

The 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor

The 46th Ryder Cup is at Adare Manor, Co. Limerick, one hundred years after the first match. This page covers the schedule, the scoring, tickets, the course, and what we learned from reading up on the last few Ryder Cups.

The week

The week: 13 to 19 September 2027

  1. Mon 13Sept

    Teams arrive, closed practice

No public tickets were sold for Monday. A good day to arrive and get a round in yourself.

  2. Tue 14Sept

    Practice day & Community Day

First public day. Smaller crowds, players signing autographs, and the easiest day to walk the whole course.

  3. Wed 15Sept

    Practice day & All-Star Match

Celebrity and legends exhibition in the afternoon. Still a good day for photographs: cameras are typically allowed on practice days only.

  4. Thu 16Sept

Practice, Junior Ryder Cup final round & Opening Ceremony

Team pairings for Friday are announced at the ceremony. Expect the first big crowds and a late finish.

  5. Fri 17Sept

    Day one: foursomes and fourballs

Four matches in the morning session and four in the afternoon, eight points in total.

  6. Sat 18Sept

    Day two: foursomes and fourballs

Same shape as Friday. The captain decides the order of the sessions. Sixteen points played after two days.

  7. Sun 19Sept

    Day three: twelve singles

All twelve players on each side play. Twelve points, then the closing ceremony on the 18th green.

Session timings are published by the organisers closer to the event. At recent Ryder Cups gates opened around 6 am on match days with the first tee shot shortly after 7 am, and play ran until early evening.

Format

How the scoring works

Foursomes

Two-player teams, one ball, alternate shots. Eight matches over Friday and Saturday.

Fourballs

Two-player teams, each player plays their own ball and the better score counts. Eight matches over Friday and Saturday. Usually the noisiest sessions.

Singles

All twelve players from each side, head to head, on Sunday. Twelve points decide the Cup. A match tied after 18 holes is halved: half a point each.

Match play, not stroke play: you win holes, not strokes, and a match ends when one side leads by more holes than remain. Europe hold the Cup, so a 14–14 tie means Europe retain it. The United States must reach 14½ to win it back.

Tickets

Tickets

Tickets were sold by ballot in 2026, with a priority window for residents of Ireland in April and a general ballot in June. In July 2026 the organisers said general admission for the whole week had sold out. The prices were the highest yet for a Ryder Cup in Europe.

DayWhat's onAdultUnder 16
Tue 14 · Wed 15Practice days€89€20
Thu 16Practice, Junior Ryder Cup, Opening Ceremony€179€30
Fri 17 – Sun 19Match days€499—

Face-value prices published by the organisers in April 2026. For comparison, Rome 2023 match days cost about €250 and Bethpage 2025 about $750 including food.

If you missed the ballot

  • Official travel packages. Authorised operators bundle tickets with hotels and transfers. These remain the only legitimate route to general admission once the ballot is done.
  • Hospitality. Premium experiences from roughly €550 per person per day upwards, through the official hospitality programme.
  • Unofficial resale. Tickets are mobile and may be cancelled if resold outside official channels. Treat anything on a classified site with great caution.

We do not sell tickets. Booking a house with us does not depend on whether you have them.

The course

The course

Laid out by Robert Trent Jones Sr in 1995 and rebuilt from the ground up by Tom Fazio between 2016 and 2018, Adare is an 840-acre parkland estate on the River Maigue, owned by the businessman and racehorse owner JP McManus. The rebuild capped the entire site in sand, laid fifty miles of drainage and installed bent-grass tees and fairways, which is why it drains like a links in a county that gets a lot of rain.

The 18th is a long par five that follows the river to a green below the manor house, which is where Sunday will most likely be decided. The 11th and 16th, both par threes over water, are the other holes where crowds gather.

Lessons from past Ryder Cups

What the last few Ryder Cups tell you

The organisers commission an economic study after each Ryder Cup, and the numbers are consistent from one to the next. A few of them are useful when you are planning a trip.

Ryder CupAttendanceWhat happenedWhat it means for 2027
2006 · The K Club, Ireland260,000€143m direct spend. American visitors stayed an average of 4.7 extra days beyond the golf; other overseas fans about three.Plan the extra days now. Links tee times, Kerry and Clare day trips and Dublin nights all book out.
2018 · Le Golf National, Paris270,000Fully car-free spectator access; everyone arrived by shuttle or train. Worked, but queues at the end of the day were long.Expect the same at Adare. Leave before the last match finishes or settle in for an hour.
2023 · Marco Simone, Rome271,000€262m economic activity, 318,000 paid bed-nights, 19% of visitors extended their trip and two-thirds said they would return within a year.Accommodation within an hour of the course was effectively gone 12 to 18 months out.
2025 · Bethpage Black, New York~250,000Match-day tickets at $750 sold out in days. Practice-day resale prices halved; match-day resale ran well above face value.Hold on to match-day tickets; buy practice days late if you need extras for family.

Accommodation goes first

Hotel rooms near each recent venue were taken by the organisers, sponsors and tour operators long before the public could book. Independent travellers mostly ended up in private houses, and those went a year or more ahead.

Allow time for the shuttles

Every Ryder Cup since Paris in 2018 has been car-free for spectators. The shuttles work, but the queues at the end of the day are long. Leave a buffer either side and do not plan a dinner reservation for 7 pm.

Pack for rain

Rome was hot and Bethpage was humid, but the K Club in 2006 was wet all weekend. Limerick in September is usually between 10°C and 18°C with rain on more days than not. Bring layers and waterproof shoes. The grandstands have no roofs.

On the day

On the day

The organisers publish the final rules for 2027 before the event. The points below have applied at recent Ryder Cups and are a reasonable assumption for planning.

Bring

  • Your mobile ticket, downloaded, with a charged phone and a battery pack
  • A small bag no bigger than about 25 cm each side; no backpacks
  • Waterproof jacket and a compact umbrella if permitted
  • Broken-in waterproof shoes; you will walk 15 km on a match day
  • Sunscreen and a cap. It does happen.
  • A card or phone for payment: the venue is cashless

Leave at home

  • Cameras and selfie sticks on match days (fine on practice days)
  • Food, drink and coolers
  • Folding chairs unless the organisers say otherwise for 2027
  • Flags on poles, banners and anything that blocks a view
  • Drones, radios and portable speakers

How to watch

  • Follow one match round the course. Good if there is a player you particularly want to see; hard on the legs.
  • Camp a hole. Grandstands at the 1st tee, the par threes and the 16th to 18th stretch fill early but you see every group.
  • Grandstand hop between the giant screens. 2027 promises more screens than any previous Ryder Cup.
  • On Sunday get to the 15th to 18th by early afternoon. That is usually where it is decided.
